Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull Review

Review date: 06.11.2008
Our rating:

The original Indiana Jones trilogy wrapped up neatly with The Last Crusade, but fans still spent twenty years clamouring for this fourth instalment, before promptly wishing they hadn’t got it. Kingdom of the Crystal Skull ticks all the boxes for an Indiana Jones movie without quite generating the sort of excitement fans expect of the series. Nevertheless, it’s a competent adventure movie with several entertaining set pieces, and the Blu-ray edition will have a powerful Dolby TrueHD 5.1 soundtrack that beefs up everything from the teeming, chittering CGI insects through to the ever powerful John Williams score.

Gran Torino is a much needed return to directorial form for Clint Eastwood, offering gentle red herrings and convincing character development in the course of a bathetic story.
