Hellboy II: The Golden Army Review

Review date: 08.12.2008
Our rating:

The sardonic red demon returns in Hellboy II: The Golden Army, and once again, director Guillermo Del Toro crafts an enjoyable mixture of freewheeling action and amazing visuals. While Hellboy does feature a few weak moments the incredibly imaginative creatures and inventive, occasionally unnerving sound design more than compensate, especially given the Blu-ray edition's 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio presentation. Add to that the interactive galleries of concept art and set tours, scads of special features and the BD-Live online content and you’ve got an enjoyable film on a very well-rounded disc.

    Gran Torino Review

Gran Torino is a much needed return to directorial form for Clint Eastwood, offering gentle red herrings and convincing character development in the course of a bathetic story.

The morbidly fascinating details of the East Coast/West Coast feud keeps Notorious interesting even when its characterisation fails to convince.
