Soulcalibur IV

Review date: 13.08.2008
Our rating:

The lack of new one-on-one fighting games over the last couple of years is mostly because the genre got a bit tired. That’s why Namco Bandai has seen fit to add loads of characters, extra game modes, and a rich character creation tool to Soulcalibur IV. In action it’s solid, catering for new gamers and veterans alike. Graphics are also decent, but the terrible dialogue ruins an otherwise inoffensive soundtrack. If you’re the kind of person who loves spending hours perfecting intricate combos, you’re going to be positively giddy over Soulcalibur IV, but if you couldn’t give a monkeys about Tekken or Dead or Alive, you’re going to be equally ambivalent about this.
