Dead Space Review

Review date: 26.11.2008
Our rating:

It’s always exciting to review something that’s brand new, rather than the latest in a string of familiar sequels, but Dead Space offers more than just the thrill of the new-as well as being the first in its series, it’s also a very good game. The simple, clever decision to incorporate relevant health, ammo and oxygen data into the game graphics gets rid of the onscreen clutter and makes the whole game feel immersive and cinematic, and every time the missions start to feel a little samey the game serves up a customisable weapon or a zero gravity interlude to keep things interesting. If all that isn’t enough to get your attention, just wait till you encounter the monsters: finally, opponents unnerving enough to compete with Resident Evil’s zombies.
