Battlefield: Bad Company Review

Review date: 21.08.2008
Our rating:

Previous Battlefield games have been purely online affairs, but Bad Company boasts a full-on story mode, complete with cutscenes, and quippy dialogue. The single-player campaign is good fun, with nice open levels and a decent amount of freedom in exploration and tactics. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the online multiplayer games are the most fun though, with big, exciting battles over large, constantly shifting play areas. Presentation is another success. The graphics won’t blow your mind, but they’re solid and have an interesting film-grain look, whereas the Dolby Digital soundtrack is brilliant, with huge explosions and terrific surround effects. It might not beat Call of Duty 4 in terms of grit, realism or intensity, but Bad Company is still a very solid shooter.
